The epilogue contains a few notes about the characters growing up and adjusting to their new lives but not very much detail, so I'd love to see that explored! It is part of the Chronicles of the Narnia but can be read as a stand-alone.

The Lost Prince is an incredible combination of children's book, political thriller, espionage, and philosophy. The boys Marco and The Rat must go on a voyage across Europe to bring back Ivor, The Lost Prince of Samavia. It's a really fun book just for the adventure and travel aspects, but what really makes it fannishly special is how absolutely unwell all of these men are about each other. There are multiple generations of fealty bonds by the end of the book, and I really wouldn't have it any other way.

The Rat (self-identified) is an English boy with deformed legs who, up until he meets Marco, has been leading a gang of street urchins in military formations for fun. Marco is The Most Boy Who Has Ever Boy-ed and quickly becomes their leader when he and his Mysterious And Perfect Father move into the neighborhood after moving around Europe incognito for Marco's whole life. The Rat never lets his disability affect his ability to do what he sees as his job as Marco's aide-de-camp.

Marco's father, Stefan, sends the boys on a voyage across Europe to alert the Samavian forces that it is time to act. The boys won't be noticed whereas an adult would be watched. In the course of their mission, Marco teaches The Rat about his father's philosophy (it's a doozy!) and The Rat quite clearly falls in love with both Marco and Stefan.

I'll personally be requesting Marco/The Rat and Marco/The Rat/OFC looking for post-canon stories, and Stefan/His Wife looking for pre-canon stories.

The Love Hypothesis is a fun, quick read with a small but very active and enthusiastic fandom. It’s a dubiously accurate STEM academia-themed fake dating romance starring a sunshiney grad student and the grumpy young hotshot professor who’s been secretly pining after her for years. I come back to this book whenever I just want to feel happy and romantic without using my brain too much. The tropes are really front and centre here, so if you enjoy fake dating and/or pining and would like to just really wallow in them in a very pure form, without much else in the way of complication or distraction, then this is a great pick. :D

Mr Satterthwaite, a very queer-coded elderly confirmed bachelor, gets pulled into solving cases whenever he finds his friend Harley Quin, a Totally Normal Human. Quin shows up whenever death threatens love - usually either an old case casting a shadow on a couple, or a new case threatening to kill one of the lovers. The relationship between Satterthwaite and Quin is hard to define, but is definitely a highlight of the collection.

Alien Stage is a webseries consisting of animated music videos set in a universe where humans are the lowest on the universal hierarchy. Humans are raised as pets and made to compete in a singing competition similar to kpop idol survival shows. The entire series can be watched on youtube for free in about an hour and a half, though there's also some short comics on the creator's (free) patreon that dive further into the lore. Alien Stage is an indie web series which tells a story through music videos and animation. It’s set in a world where aliens have taken over and are keeping humans as their pets. The story follows the characters set in Anakt Garden, which raises these pets to become singers and performers, where they eventually compete against each other on stage for the aliens’ entertainment. Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) is a female led movie about abused and mistreated women taking back their power through sheer violence. You've got Harley Quinn, who's fresh from her Joker breakup and ready to be an independent woman, an autistic-coded Crossbow killer mob princess who talks to herself in the mirror, a female detective who is basically Sarah Christ from Smosh, a clever kid with a broken arm, and a Canary with impeccable style and a voice that kills. They're awful. They're broken. They're crazy. And they take down the bad guys in a carnival house with nothing but mallets, a crossbow, and roller skates. This is a movie with a lot of trauma/hard scenes to watch, but the ending is so satisfying. If rated R movies are your thing, give this one a try!!! The bad guy is Ewan McGregor and he's so good at being awful, you'll hate him in the end.

I love how we get snippets of what the parents are having to work around in order to give their kids the life they want.
Also the world itself is magical and it's fine that the town got flooded by a tsunami, everyone has boats! We're introduced to Lisa when her son says his new fish girl likes ham and she just agrees! Fujimoto has so many daughters and they are all causing him stress!
The whole canon is whimsical and fairytale and I love we see it mostly through the eyes of the two kids who just want to stay with each other.

Over the rest of the day leading up to a dinner party to introduce his parents to her parents, everyone has to face some hard truths about themselves, their prejudices, and if they will let their prejudices and fears get in the way of their love for each other.

HTTYD is a children's animated trilogy about a viking village who first violently rival, and then learn to coexist with dragons! The music is AMAZING! The story is so heartfelt and gripping! Strained father-son relationships and long-lost parents! Themes of friendship despite adversity and the ability to love and find connection with someone who is very intrinsically different than yourself!

Cute humor and wholesome moments galore, with very real and serious emotional beats that gripped me as a child and still really move me now, as an adult!

If you'd like more material, or if it's all too vague, I'd recommend watching the Virtual Angel and Birth MVs and some random analysis videos, but this is optional.
Content warnings for bird hunting, missing persons case, death by fall. Very slight horror vibes at times, way more present in Birth.
The girls switch place pretty often, with the exception of Jinsoul, who is Joan of Arc with the Excalibur gun/sword/crossbow. From what I understand, Choerry is the one who sees the girl fall at the start, and the one who stares at the TV intensely before closing one eye. Kim Lip replaces her when she opens it again(?), and is the one in the car (long then short hair) who goes to the club. Haseul is the one inside the TV and also one of the angels shot down by the hunters. Heejin is in front of the TV at some point, and is the angel with white hair and black eyes at the end. They all appear in the dance sequence.

Into the Woods is just such a fun musical! It's a clusterfuck of fairytales and Bernadette Peters is there! There are so many beautiful places to explore all kinds of backstories, canon divergences, and future stories. The musical asks questions about what it means to be a person and what it means to live and heal! And I think that's lovely!

Metropolis is free on Youtube in most, if not all countries. It is also available to buy or rent on some paid digital stores, or as a DVD. You can probably get it from your local library system on DVD!

Metropolis is one of the most influential movies of the first half of the 20th century. The visuals are absolutely stunning, especially considering they are nearly a century old. The plot is a timeless fairy tale of workers' rights and class warfare. It's one of the first (if not THE first) android/robot movies, and this robot is both terrifying and fuckable. You will recognize so so many scenes, just from everything referencing them for the past century. Also, the current 2.5 hour version is nearly complete after the original cut was lost after the premiere and reassembled as more and more footage has been found in disparate locales.

The most important thing, though, is that Freder Fredersen is nearly the most beautiful man to ever grace the screen. He's a rich kid who discovers there are poor people in terrible conditions and immediately breaks the system to fix their working conditions. He close talks with everyone and seems as though he may kiss any of his scene partners at any time. He's a great action hero, saving the day and giving hope for the future.

Did you want to know more about the fuckable robot patterned off the woman who is the prophet of the workers? She's got the craziest eyes you've ever seen. Maria is hot (that's why Freder falls for her at first sight), but Maschinenmensch is the hottest thing any of the rich men has ever seen. The gif of men in suits panting? They're panting over Maria because she's doing a sexy dance to entice them to do her bidding. She's so hot she starts a riot.

Beautiful action heros and fuckable robots not your thing? Can I introduce you to Josaphat? He's Freder's father's secretary, and there is SO MUCH UST between him and Freder. He's gotten caught up in this thing, but he's doing the right thing, despite just being some guy. He's got the energy of a very anxious but good-natured potato. He's the best, and I always wish he'd lean in when Freder is close-talking and just give a little kiss.

Oh, you want a withholding, cold old man? Joh Fredersen is your guy! He just wants money and power until his son gets too involved with the workers' uprising. He's got a weird severed love-triangle going with the mad scientist and his dead wife, which is ripe with unrealized potential. He sucks until he doesn't, and it's implied he could have a thing with the Maschinenmensch Maria.

The series is an anthology with each episode having a different story/characters; the characters I'm requesting come from two episodes in Volume 2. Together the two specific episodes are about 33mins watch time.
The first character I'm requesting, Daal, comes from the episode Screecher's Reach, which features a group of kids who sneak out of their workhouse to confront a cave that's said to be haunted. The kids relationships and characters are sketched out beautifully in a relatively short time, and the ending has a great dark twist.
By contrast, the second character I've requested, Aau, comes from the episode Aau's Song, which is as bright, happy, and beautiful as a Ghibli movie, with a really interesting art style that makes everything look like it's made of felt. The story is all about Aau overcoming her own shyness and other people's restrictions to be true to herself (and maybe start on the path to becoming a Jedi while she's at it).

It is one of my all-time favorite movies, but since it was released during the writers' strike, it hasn't had as much interaction/fanbase as other Marvel movies. It can be watched as a complete stand-alone and is 90 minutes long. This movie will make you laugh so hard (as well as cry with some emotional scenes) and is the most fun I've had with Marvel in a long time. I thoroughly love every single one of these characters and there's so much potential with storylines/missing scenes/etc... Please give it a chance!

It all falls through and she ends up marrying the Crown Prince who seems to understand and sympathize with her, while Agi leaves alone.

There is humor, there is pathos, there is interesting characterization, there is a top notch cast giving it their all.

The thing is, this is all happening in 1910. In four years WWI will start, and then their whole world will be torn apart and there's a good chance that the unnamed kingdom Albert is heir to will cease to be a monarchy. And I am desperate to know what that means for all of them.

This is a mini-drama (total runtime: under an hour) about a princess/bodyguard relationship in a reverse harem setting with spy shenanigans and political intrigue. Li Yunzhen, princess and regent for her little brother the Emperor, lives a sybaritic lifestyle and is rumoured to be corrupt and cruel; Gu Xuanqing is sent by the Emperor to spy on her in the role of a guard, but finds her not quite what the rumours say.

The dynamic between Li Yunzhen and Gu Xuanqing is great. She's in charge, of course, and plays the dominant seducer with gusto - and he's entirely unprepared for finding himself actually into it, and wanting to hand himself over to her for real. (So, yes, the titular princess is indeed very much on top. *g*) And even though he's been sent in as a spy, once he comes to know her beyond the facade she presents, betraying her starts weighing on him. Trust, loyalty, betrayal - all that tasty stuff! (And many of the usual tropes, including kneeling in the rain.) And the political intrigue doesn't just provide context for the relationship, but plays a major role itself.

There's enough material for a full-length drama in this, and a lot of potential for fic!

Generation Crossing is an audio drama by Dead Signals. It is a science-fiction story that fuses music and monologues to create the story of a ship's AI as it undertakes the 800 year journey to a ""new"" earth to inhabit with its crew. Generation Crossing is driven both by the characters that exist over the course of the journey, as well as the depth and growth of the ship's AI, IO. The music is vibrant and beautiful, the monologues are heartfelt or funny or painful, and the narrative itself is all-encompassing but passes, somehow, naturally over the course of listening.

If you have 90 minutes and a Spotify account, it's well worth the listen! It's great for anyone who is more interested in worldbuilding or potentially focusing on single characters as the story tends to focus in on one character and one point in time at a time, allowing for fic or comics that could flesh out the entire world.

Ghost Quartet says a lot. Like, a LOT. And also very little that makes concrete sense, which is why I thought it might be a good safety. It's about 1.5 hours long and it's a genuinely beautiful piece of art that has haunted me for about nine years now. It's a cyclical musical - called a song cycle - about reincarnation, love, mythology, the stars, God, sisterhood, and just about everything. The four main characters exist in several iterations/incarnations that all exist at once in a circle. It's intentionally weird and abstract and all over the place. It has the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard. From the creator: ""Ghost Quartet is a “live performance of a concept album”…basically what we wanted to do was to take the narrative form of the rock concept album, with all of its vaguery and weirdness, symbolism and surrealism, adrenaline and angst, and theatricalize it.""

It's REALLY HARD to explain GQ, and that is what I love about it! It's why I think it might be a good safety fandom; there are SO many places you can go with the story, and the story is vague enough to allow for many explanations and events to be woven into the circle. Octet is a musical largely about the horrors of the internet and social media. Which sounds a bit like ""very hit or miss"" from the description, but Malloy is INCREDIBLY talented and in my opinion Octet is an amazing look into how the internet can affect people, in both good and bad ways. It's about a support group for internet addicts, where the meeting agenda is to sing about their experiences with the internet, which is dubbed ""the monster"" & only ever referred to as ""the internet"" in the second to last song, which is about a long-distance relationship one of the characters finds that helps her soul. It's absolutely incredible to me. They sing a youtube link character by character in one of the songs. The characters are complex and fascinating. The music is great. Little God is a masterpiece. I really recommend this musical!

Although the game takes longer than 5 hours to beat, all you need to know is what's in the cutscenes (2 hours long). The gameplay has no plot. Baby Steps is a game about learning to walk - literally, for the player, who has to move each leg manually to walk, and metaphorically, for the protagonist: Nate, a thirtysomething who's just been kicked out of his parents' basement. He finds himself lost on a mountain (a metaphor for how terrifying the real world is). He is a hopeless hiker, and can't bring himself to accept any help from those around him. The game is a meditation on toxic masculinity, identity, and sexuality, and it is wildly funny. It's an exercise in frustration for the player, but that's the point - and the satisfaction is worth the struggle.

Gameplay cycle is very short - you get a missive from a suitor with a punny name, you choose a place to go on a ""date"", and the relationship ends in friendship, neutral terms, or offense depending on how well you read the clues in the letter about what type of activity the suitor would like. Game ends when three kingdoms have the same status. The suitors are randomized and there are enough to not appear in every playthrough, so I'm only requesting the player/protagonist. The game takes a while to load between dates, but it *does* work - I've played it several times by now in my browser. Even if you don't request or offer it, I really hope you enjoy playing this aro kingdom dating sim!

This is a pair of gorgeous short film-style commercials around a sort of anthrompomorphic personification of time who transports people into his workshop to engrave wrinkles and lines into their skin.

Despite also being a vehicle for an ""O NOES NOT THE WRINKLES"" product, these commercials really are great little mini-films. There's fascinating worldbuilding/mythology to play with and expand on; there's a lot of potential for mortal/immortal interaction (the Time Engraver chats at his subjects! what if one of them wakes up?). They're a delight!

Both mangas center heavily on gender and sexual identities, with an emphasis on coming out and the struggles that come with it. Our Dreams at Dusk is the longer of the two fandoms, following the story of Kaname Tasuku as he comes to terms with his attraction to a male classmate and the fears that accompany it in a culture still full of homphobia. In both stories there's also a lot of trans representation, and while Arima Yuu isn't distinctly trans, he definitely isn't straight, and there's a lot to explore about his character and childhood experiences from playing female characters since he was young. I definitely recommend both stories, especially if you're looking for a tearjerker experience! Do be warned they both include darker themes, including homophobia, transphobia, and childhood rape in Boy Meets Maria.

Given is a BL themed story follows four students who come together to form the amateur rock band Given, blending themes of music and emotional growth as their personal and romantic relationships evolve. At the core of the narrative is the developing relationship between electric guitarist Ritsuka Uenoyama and introverted vocalist Mafuyu Sato, while a parallel storyline delves into the deeper and more complex bond between bassist Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji. It explores themes such as love, grief, and self-discovery, Given portrays how music becomes both an outlet and a connection point for its characters.

It's pretty emotional- sometimes sad, sometimes sweet, it's funny and can be serious and takes you through an emotional roller coaster at times. It has 11 episodes all adorably titled with British alternative rock songs and if you so chose, it also has 2 (1 movie has 2 parts together) movies. Not necessary but adds more layers if so inclined, esp Given the Movie which focuses mostly on Akihiko and Haruki.

Red Dead Redemption (Video Games)
I love Red Dead a lot because of how beautifully complicated and strained the relationships between the characters are, and how they interconnect so intensely that one relationship affects the others almost necessarily. Arthur and John are our main characters, and both struggle with the hierarchy of the outlaw gang they are in, torn between seeing their leader, Dutch, as an enigmatic, intelligent father figure and a man blinded by delusions of grandeur who is running them into the ground. John struggles to connect with his wife and son, out of an intense fear of both failure and mundanity, and through his journey, we see his son, Jack, similarly struggle to relate to the character of the father he has built up about John in his head. On top of that, the games explore the failures and complexities of the modernizing American West in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, through the lenses of people who have been abandoned by the government and its protections, though who also seek meaning for themselves in the process of that abandonment with others left at the fringes.
They are VERY long games, but beautiful visually, musically, and thematically, and I think definitely worth at least watching some cut-scenes from :)

It turns out to be the super popular and hot Mitani, who works in the sales department at their work. The main character, Yanase, is super gloomy and has poor self-esteem, so while their physical compatibility is off the charts, it's super fun to see how he reacts to Mitani's compliments and attempts to become his friend outside of the bedroom. It's not so much that Yanase doesn't like it; more that he's not used to such a handsome man paying attention to him, and seeing the way he handles that is very fun!

This is a somewhat typical uni love triangle with a side of intrigue, but the characters are earnest and well-intentioned in a way that I found very endearing, including in how the conflicts were handled. It's not, like, drama of the year, but there are lots of elements to latch onto!
Liu, the main character, got bullied a lot for her physical appearance. Between high school and university, she gets plastic surgery and now fits beauty standards to a T. Faye is the popular queen bee of the university. She's sweet, she's pretty, she's basically perfect, except actually, she's not. Liu gets a girlcrush on her (platonic in the show but come on). Guy is the popular, awkward, earnest love interest who went to the same high school as Liu. Saint is the new neighbor who teases Liu (and Guy) and falls in love with her.
